DAS UNHEIMLICHE

 

I've entitled this work of mine “Das Unheimliche”: The Uncanny.

By this term I mean something that should have remained hidden and instead surfaced,a vision that can expose us to a disturbing effect.

Undefined, confused images, with an almost pictorial effect, close to that fragile border between fantasy and reality.

The conditions which in the real experience are at the origin of the disturbing feeling reflect themselves in the use of the image; in this case I can also increase and multiply the uncanny far beyond the limit allowed in real existence.

Vision must be converted from foreigner to familiar, but this requires unconscious and not only rational work and I mean the aesthetic dimension as basically central in the context of the feeling that I try to describe.

According to sensibility, the need to decode the stimulus pushes the user or to a greater attention, such as almost a kind of an attraction towards something he felt as ambiguous, or to a total repulsion that pushes him to break any contact with the object of this kind of disturbance.

Il Perturbante

 

Ho intitolato questa mia ricerca “Das Unheimliche”: Il Perturbante.

Con tale termine intendo qualcosa che sarebbe dovuto rimanere nascosto e che invece è affiorato, una visione che può esporci a un effetto perturbante.

Immagini poco definite, confuse, dall'effetto quasi pittorico prossime a quel labile confine tra fantasia e realtà.

Le condizioni che nell'esperienza reale sono all'origine del sentimento perturbante si riflettono nella fruizione dell'immagine; in questo caso posso anche accrescere e moltiplicare il perturbante ben oltre il limite consentito nell'esistenza reale.

La visione deve essere convertita da straniera a familiare, ma tale operazione necessita di un lavoro inconscio e non solo razionale ed individuo la dimensione estetica come centrale nell’ambito del sentimento che provo a descrivere.

Secondo la sensibilità, il bisogno di decodificare lo stimolo spinge il fruitore o a un’attenzione maggiore, quasi a un’attrazione verso qualcosa di sentito come ambiguo, o a una repulsione totale che spinge a interrompere ogni contatto con l’oggetto del proprio turbamento.
